SEO with Photo File Names, Really?

Strategy before SEO

After you have devised your internet marketing strategy to capture and convert leads into sales, customers or clients you need to make sure your website ranks #1 locally. That means ranking locally for your keywords, which should directly correlate to your biggest profit centers. Using Santa Rosa, California as an example, if you’re an electrical contractor you want to rank #1 for the search, “Santa Rosa electrical contractor”. We know this is a common search when we start to type it in the search bar because Google finishes typing it before we do in the drop down menu.

SEO for The Searchers

In this search example of “Santa Rosa electrical contractor” we must consider who is entering this search. It could be a consumer, who has a good size project, such as a remodel. Otherwise a consumer searching for an electrician to perform service would most likely search for “Santa Rosa electrician”. You also want to rank #1 for this search if you’re looking to increase work for your service department. But, in the search for “Santa Rosa electrical contractor” most of the searches will probably be from general contractors, architects, engineers, municipal entities or other larger project concerns.

Photo File Names for SEO

So, let’s stick to the ‘Santa Rosa electrical contractor” example here and look at some of the finer details that will help you reach the #1 ranking locally. One of the finer points in SEO for internet marketing is the use of photos to attract attention and response on the internet. What makes that point even finer is the naming of the file attached to the photo. Yes, everything counts, when Google is indexing internet information. Using photos with file names that include keywords gives you another edge in SEO in the local search game. Photos with keywords in the file name that match the content they share on a web page or blog post can boost your SEO score.

Pleasing Google Helps Your Google Search Ranking

Google, Google search, Google+,

What Google Search Wants

I’m not terribly religious, but when it comes to getting a website ranked #1 globally or locally you must “worship” or at least please the Google Search Gods. In other words when you write content on your website pages or blog posts write for your readers and write for Google search. Knowing that Google search wants informative, relevant and helpful information should inspire you to write that way.

The very essence and strength of Google search is to inform their users with the best information possible. When you do a Google search aren’t you expecting, or at least hoping for, the very best result to your search? Well, so is Google! Why? Because it gives them credibility, reputation and loyal users or fans that rely on Google search to answer any question they may have on any subject.

Content Matters

The same guidelines translate to your business website. When somebody types in your keywords in the search box they are likely looking for information that you or somebody similar to you offer. The information they find may or may not lead to a sale for the business website they have chosen; usually it’s the #1 business on page one of their Google search that gets the first shot or opportunity. So, you must strive to have the most informative and useful information in your website and blog content if you want to get and keep the #1 spot on page one of Google searches.

YouTube and Google+

A couple of other things to remember about pleasing Google to reach the top of the Google rankings are YouTube and Google+. We know that Google owns YouTube and Google+, don’t we?  So, that automatically tells us that it’s important to include YouTube videos and Google+ content if we want to please Google search with more informative content, doesn’t it?  Posting and sharing YouTube videos on your social media network, which should include Twitter and Facebook, can really make Google search happy, especially if your YouTube videos are as informative and helpful as your written content.

Google’s Algorithms

Nobody outside of Google knows how Google sets up their algorithms.  Google protects this information so that virtually no one has knowledge of how Google judges the relevance and accuracy of a website.  Google algorithms rank websites on the SERP (search engine results page) when an internet search brings up websites that have keywords optimized matching keywords in the search phrase.  An search example could be “santa rosa plumbers“.  The websites with the most relevant and helpful information for this search would come up with 10 websites ranked 1-10 on each page.

Most searches don’t go beyond the first page, only 2% go to page two, so if somebody was looking for a plumber in Santa Rosa they would most likely choose from the 10 websites on page one.  The top website will get 35-40% of the click throughs to there website.  The #2 spot will get 15-20%.  The #3 website gets only 10-12%.  The #4 website gets a mere 8-10% and the #5 gets 5-7%.  The bottom 5 websites on page one get 5% or less of the click throughs.

So, for businesses, in any niche, that want to get the most ready-to-buy internet leads, the top of the page one for any SERP with their main keywords optimized is extremely desirable.  But, of course, there is more to the game than just keywords, that’s where Google’s algorithm come in, what else does Google use to judge where websites are ranked on SERPs.

For years SEO companies have specialized in using backlinks.  These are links from notable or well respected websites back to a local business site that seeks a higher ranking.  An example would be a link from Kohler to a local plumbing site.  For years backlinks were considered the standard of relevancy for a website, so SEO companies helped local business get them by calling influential companies and asking about programs that were supported by backlinks.  Many SEO companies still use backlinks to help get local business websites ranked higher.

Google’s Knowledge Vault

Enter Google’s Knowledge Vault.  Google has amassed almost 2 billion facts, 1.6 billion as on 2014, to use in ranking websites by accuracy.  It has been recently reported that Google is considering using Google’s Knowledge Vault to rank websites by accuracy and truthfulness.  This gave us pause for thought.  If Google has built this massive knowledge base with a couple of billion facts isn’t it just possible that Google has been using this algorithm for a number of years already?  You know, like back when they only had half a million facts they might have started using it?  Here’s a fairly recent article on Google’s Knowledge Vault

Content Marketing

Dommer Internet Marketing has always been able to rank their clients #1 on page one using content including blog posts and videos as a core strategy for internet marketing.  Using YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and other social network sites for distributing content.  We have always been accurate with claims and facts, but we have hardly ever used backlinks.  As a matter of fact we always beat SEO companies that specialize in backlinks.

Is it possible that for the last 5-10 years Google has been using some form of Google’s Knowledge Vault in their algorithms to rank websites?  We think so.  We think that Google may actually be top-heavy in the use of Google’s Knowledge Vault in regards to the make up of their current algorithms.  Why else would Google spend the time and effort to build a Knowledge Vault with a couple of billion facts?

We often here the phrase “Content is King!”  This would seem to be what Google is most interested in checking with their Knowledge Vault.  “Content Marketing” is now a huge buzzword and strategy for internet marketing.  Maybe, just maybe content marketing is being driven by Google’s Knowledge Vault.

YouTube videos for FAQs & SAQs

YouTube, YouTube videos, YouTube marketing, seo, online lead generation, internet lead generation

YouTube Marketing

YouTube is a great marketing tool for your business.  You can use it in a variety of ways.  Here’s one of the best strategies.  We use this in our Local Internet Leads Machine.

Your company has a list of FAQs (Frequently Asked Question) that customers ask over and over.  You can make a list of 5 or even 10 of the most frequently asked questions and make short (1 to 3 minute) YouTube videos that ask and answer these questions.

All of your FAQ videos should originate from your YouTube page.  That is where you upload them first when you’re finished making the videos.  When you post them anywhere on the internet they are YouTube videos.

You can post these FAQ videos on your website with a few on the home page and titled links to more of your FAQs posted on a video page on your website.  You can also make social site posts with your YouTube videos on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and other social sites you may have in your network.

YouTube Videos

Your YouTube videos give you good SEO (search engine optimization) and SEM (search engine marketing) because Google measures the number of views and time spent watching to determine viewer value and relevance.  Since Google owns YouTube this makes your videos very powerful in ranking your website for organic local search.

Your YouTube videos build familiarity and credibility with your customers.  Which brings us to SAQs (Should Ask Questions).  These are the questions your customers should ask, but don’t ask.  SAQs are based on your knowledge base and expertise in your business services and products.  5 or 10 SAQs should be made to go along with your FAQs.  Make them two separate categories or playlists for the full effect.

SAQs establish you as the expert in your field.  SAQs and the answers you give provide your customer with the extra mile of customer service and guidance to get the most out their purchase of your services and products.  You become the “go to’ person in your industry.  Your expertise factor is valued most by your best customers.  These are the customers that stay with you and spend more over a longer period of time.

 Google Search Domination

The very best way to get new local customers on the internet in Santa Rosa or any other city is from organic search.  Why do you think there are so many SEO companies?  It’s why we use our Google Search Domination search to position our clients #1 on page one of Google.  It’s part of our Santa Rosa Internet Leads Machine.

Not Just SEO

We’re not just an SEO company that promises “on page one” results.  We could do that in our sleep, but it’s not worth that much.  It’s like a horse race – winner take all.  The business that is #1 on page one of Google gets 35-40% of the click throughs to their website.  Plus they get non-click leads where ready-to-buy customers just call their phone number from their Google listing.

To build a super Santa Rosa internet leads machine for our clients we also add PowerListings to the mix.  Once again, we use Santa Rosa as our example, but we have done this and will continue to do it in other cities as well.

PowerListings gives your business a detailed listing on over 50 business listing sites including CityMaps, Citysearch, MerchantCircle and White & Yellow Pages.   Search engines Bing and Yahoo are also part of PowerListings.  Facebook and Yelp, the biggest review site on the web, are included in PowerListings.  These local internet business listings are all part of your Santa Rosa Internet Leads Machine for your business.

Social Media Network

We also use video marketing on your YouTube Channel, which is part of the social media network we set up for your business.  It also includes Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and Yelp.  We use the videos as lead magnets and post the videos on the mentioned social sites for exposure.  The source of additional content comes from the blog we set up or continue with if you have one.

Content Marketing – the New SEO?

content marketing

Content marketing is the new SEO – at least that’s the new buzz in the internet world, but it’s really been around all along – since the inception of the internet.  Back when there was no Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest or Google+, there were basically just articles…and newsletters.  Articles and newsletters are still around, but there is so much more or less, if you consider 140 characters to be less.

The “more” part of the content marketing equation is distribution, or syndication through all the fabulous marketing platforms mentioned above that didn’t exist until just a few years ago.  You pump out blog posts onto Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and other social sites with your business account.

That’s the key – if you want your personal profile to just be personable and social, you can simply create a business profile and work to get leads, who become customers.  This gives you the license to talk shop, tell your story, answer questions that prospects have and show why you are the expert in your field.  It’s useful content and good content marketing if your leads, prospects and customers think it’s good.

So, your content marketing better be about your customers, not you.  Let’s repeat that together – “Your content marketing better be about your customers – not you!”  This is the great mystery that most businesses never figure out – customers don’t care about you, they just care about themselves and how you can help them with their problem or challenge.  We will not repeat that, but do yourself a favor and reread that sentence – or better yet copy and paste it on your forehead or refrigerator.

Dommer Internet Marketing is a do-it-for-you lead generation company that can work with you to capture 60-70% of the leads from local Google searches for your services and products.  We only work with one company in each industry in each city.  Is that you?  Let us know.
